Hi Martin, it's Mrs Sheringham. You mentioned contacting you if I noticed something off. Would items mysteriously appearing from my home be part of that?

( maybe depending on what the item is but generally it's just odd )

[Especially considering the recent Leitner fiasco.]

What is it, Mrs. Sheringham?

It might be nothing but it's a clock.

How did you know the books were something to be concerned with?

Everything with a supernatural origin in mine and Jon's world is pretty much designed to invoke terror or hurt people in some way. We found out the books were a problem when I ran into someone with one that he'd just found in the shop where he works.

Where in your house did you find the clock? Is it special in some way?

[aeva]

Do you know how they were made? How that power was infused into them?

( yes she's avoiding the question for the minute )

[Martin doesn't miss that, but he lets it go for the moment. He can be patient.]

I don't know. I'm sorry. I just know they're manifestations of the Fears. How any of that actually comes into existence is sort of a mystery.

[aeva]

You mentioned gods. Perhaps it's their doing?

[lonelynotforsaken]

The Fears aren't gods. They're just eldritch entities that some people worship as gods. That's what I mean by them being manifestations. They're just... there one day? Or maybe one of the Fears might infect an existing book? I really don't know for sure.

[aeva]

( it was something to think on even if she didn't quite understand it )

The clock itself doesn't have power itself but it was a message.

[She's being very mysterious.]

What is the message? Is someone threatening you, Mrs. Sheringham?

[aeva]

No, it was a warning of the future. Of Armageddon.

[lonelynotforsaken]

[Martin reads that and an eyebrow rises slowly.]

Is that... usually what clocks mean where you're from?

[aeva]

No. But this is a specific clock.

Okay. Would it be okay if I brought Jon by to look at the clock? He's seen more magical artifacts than I have, I think.

[aeva]

I'm not certain what you'd get from it.

( it wasn't magical, at least it didn't have any power that she knew of. unless something had happened to it, or something that mr mountjoy had done in giving it to them, in restarting it? )

[Martin's not sure, either, but an Armageddon clock is probably something Jon would want to have a look at.]
